sistawendy: me in the Mercury's alley with the wind catching my hair (smoldering windblown Merc alley)
The travel plan scorecard, in chronological order:
  1. The Vampire Masquerade Ball - Postponed from May 23 to July 25. I'm still planning on going.
  2. Desire in Palm Desert, CA, scheduled for the last weekend in May - The Tickler wants to go, and all indications are that it's still on. Despite this being a trans-friendly kink event and the Tickler's idea, I'm ambivalent. I'm surprised California hasn't put the kibosh on it.
  3. Burning Man, always the week that ends Labor Day - cancelled for 2020. I think this was the right move, given how early on-playa prep starts and how damn many people come from all over the world and congregate in filthy conditions.
  4. The Folsom Street Fair, San Francisco, the last weekend in September - apparently still on. That was my backup plan if the playa didn't happen.
  5. London, dahling - a possibility for late October, methinks. I have not pulled the trigger.
I'd heard yesterday that Seattle is closing several of its most popular parks, including my beloved Green Lake. Maintaining 6' of distance was hard enough, but for people running or, I suppose, other more strenious exercise, the latest research suggests 25'. So I hit the street going clockwise around the lake at 0800 this morning. I counted the cars that passed me: five. Easy peasy. There were a few naughty people on the inner trail, and even one group of three. I wonder if running on the unpaved, curbside outer trail is allowed or not; people were doing it. I wouldn't want to bike on it anyway despite the lovely cherry trees.

Getting takeout pho from up the street feels like I got away with a crime. I have no regrets because it was totally tasty. Hey, I wore a mask to get it. Pro tip: takeout broth containers usually don't have room to fit all the pho solids unless you're veeeery careful and put them in a little at a time, as I did.

Ex gave me a pile of fabric. I've cut it, but I'm not sewing it tonight: I've got a video date with the Tickler in forty minutes.

ETA: Desire is cancelled.

Currently, the shelter-in-place order in CA is indefinite. The governor outlined six key indicators, including the ability to do contact tracing, that have to happen before they will consider modifying that. I think some of the events are waiting until the last minute to cancel just in case the order is lifted in time.
