Grandly Snipped! Flowered!
Dec. 14th, 2011 11:55 amGreetings from the land of post-op! Surgery went swimmingly and I'm resting comfortably.
I got to the hospital a little earlier than scheduled - Me? Eager? - and got promptly begowned and signed in. Dr. Snip, however, ran a little late with her other patient of the day. So I spent a nice extra hour chatting with my mom & Brunette Sister with a mind addled by dehydration. Finally, Dr. Snip & Dr. Knockout showed up, asked me what they needed to, and wheeled me in around noon.
Five minutes later as I perceived it and five hours as everyone else did, I was awake and in recovery. The fam met me there, followed me up to my room, and talked for a bit.
No nausea, minimal itching. Orange Jell-O & saltines never tasted so good. I've discovered that morphine is the bomb, IV ibuprofen is dandy, and percocet is mighty nice. Not to mention dozens of well-wishing emails & tweets.
Dr. Bowers (i.e. Dr. Snip) stopped by this morning, assured me that all went well, and did a little expectations management.
My phone was plugged in in the bathroom with the ringer off, so it took me a while to get a hold of mom. D'oh!
Time for "inspirator" exercises to ward off pneumonia. (!) Then more chat with fam, then sleep.
ETA: But wait! Lunch! Yes, it's institutional, but I don't care.
