Speak to me of leg waxing.

The Man burns in 40 days, and shaving one's legs on the playa is a messy inconvenience; I know that from four years ago. So, who do you recommend for leg waxing? Trans-friendliness is a big plus to say the least.

I need to get my oh-so-fragile hair windproofed, too, but [livejournal.com profile] imflying has that covered. How could I not, after what she did for [livejournal.com profile] leenerella's hair the year she got married on the playa?

I know a few people who've raved about WaxOn (www.waxon.com) over in Belltown (plus there's a bar around the corner for courage), if I run into Nicole in the next week or so, I'll ask her where she gets hers done.

For what it's worth, I bought a box of waxing strips from the drugstore the other day to use on my arms and it was quite easy and trivial. If you go the do it yourself route you can wait until the very last possible day to do it if you want to.

How long did you have to grow it out?

It was naturally about a 1/4"? Some probably less and some more. The package that I got (Nad's - it's from Australia!) sez hair should be between 2-5 mm long.

Oh, and in noticing another comment below, this stuff (body hair removal strips) doesn't need to be heated up more than rubbing the strips between your hands. For whatever that's worth.

I can't recommend sugaring over waxing enough! It's the same process, but uses ingredients that don't need to be heated. (Sugar, lemon, and water...) Less irritating to the skin. I go to The Sweet Spot in Fremont (they had a good FAQ on their site), but there are several other shops in town. Can't speak to their specific trans-friendliness, but perhaps your network has more info...

I believe we have a winner!

I got your email, but unfortunately I have no personal recommendations, trans-friendly or otherwise -- leg waxing doesn't work for me. Someplace on the Hill might be a safe bet, though.

Hunh. Something must have flipped your "gets legs waxed" bit in my head.

I've gotten other things waxed, but my leg hair doesn't cooperate.
