Scratch one date.

Saturday: Text the Young Lady in the Bowler to confirm Sunday's date. No response.
Sunday: Zappy, dinner with m'boy, get gussied up in a mad rush, make it to the Mercury on time. She's not there. When texted, she says she's tired.

Screw that. Right in the ear.

Seethed over absinthe with [livejournal.com profile] fullcontactmuse, and later over beer with [livejournal.com profile] dagard. Happiness is being told by E the Tall Blonde Pool Player that the YLB was missing something.

Happy Thought: This coming Saturday is a date with D, who wished me a happy Mothers' Day. Not quite appropriate, but really sweet.

Hope for the best! Expect the worst.

You'll rarely be disappointed...

I try to live by that philosophy, too. I call it "cynical optimism".

Ugh, one date down. But yay, another good one coming.

So my trip approaches! I arrive by seaplane on Lake Union the afternoon of Thursday the 24th, and depart from The Big Airport on the 31st. So far I've got plans on the 24th and 26th. Any of the other days/evenings particularly free for you?

Sunday the 27th is zappy. How do feel about house at Re-bar that night?

Hmm. I don't know the club at all; my only real concern (isn't this always the concern?) is that I might not have anything to wear.

(I'm travelling super light, because Special Inter-Aerodrome Travel™® requires that I have 11 kilos or less, and my laptop is 2 of those. So special outfits are possibly out, depending on what all I can get in the other 9 kilos.)

Is that going to be a problem there?

No worries. Re-bar is casual to a fault. Surrender to the groove! You know you wanna.

Ok, cool. Still want to get dinner first? That'd be best, as it allows me the option on whether or not to do the club part, which is going to be a day-of decision for me... (I see on the site that it doesn't even start until 10, and I'm often in bed by 10. So it'll really depend on energy reserves.)

Wayell, Sunday night usually entails dinner with the Wendling. That's a date I better keep. I'll send you caffeinated thoughts and hope you can make Re-bar. Do you have my number?

If I do, I can't find it. My US mobile is 313-896-6982, and that'll be active from the 24th on.

Ah, yes, at least if you ask nicely they'll give you a special green tag that says LAPTOP!, giving you the hope that the dockies'll be extra careful not to dunk that particular bag in the water.

At least that's the theory, which has (thus far, thankfully) played out okay in our case.

Have funs, lots of them!

I have a tiny carry bag that the laptop fits in--I had intended to keep that with me. I guess we'll see if they let me... :)

No, they won't let you keep it. I don't blame them for that -- there is absolutely no safe place to stow hand-baggage **inside** the cabin, except for a cargo-net arrangement that is only allowed to be used for soft items and (ahem) floaty-plane frieght in cardboard boxes.

Yahh, believe me, I have tried and tried and tried to keep my machine with me, but **everything** goes inside a special compartment in the nearside float of the plane, and they screw the lid down tight and that's that.

Enjoy the very exhilerating ride! It's fun!

Even -I- am annoyed with the Young Lady In The Bowler. What is her problem?
