Is there a word for mutual enabling?

The Siberian Siren and I are so dangerous for each other. We always have budgets when we shop, and if we're together, both of us exceed them, every time. We both recognize the problem, but I don't see us fixing it any time soon. Her girlfriend is too butch to enjoy that kind of thing, and tells her to shop with me. All my other, perhaps (but not necessarily) more sensible girlfriends are either too booked, too butch, or too tired.

I'm lucky so many of my meals come from StartupCo. Money that I budgeted for food has gone to makeup and clothing.

From the Dept. of Rationalization: Nibs bitched at me for years because she doesn't like the smell of Angel. I was over budget because I picked up some Chanel Chance at Ulta. (The SS cried, "It's not my fault!") Be careful what you wish for, Nibs.

The rest of the haul from Ulta:
  • A couple of nail colors and base coat from OPI. I tried it at the SS's. It's good, durable stuff.
  • Eyeliner - Urban Decay's Perversion. Hey, I ran out. Like you do.
  • Mascara. I was... nearly out. I think.

Well, come North, then, where there's lots of fat paycheques but absolutely zero zilch nada chance of finding a place to buy either makeup (which I eschew) or clothes (which I hoard, lest they be destroyed by the windblown grit and dust).

Noooo! I don't want to get better! *Hugs her makeup brushes.*

these are *investments*. You have so many years of not being able to shop to make up for.

That's pretty much what the Siberian Siren said. It's true, and it's a workable excuse.

Speak my language

OPI is teh awesome, and I use their base coat for all my manicures, under any brand. Zoya is also a fave.

Urban Decay eyeliner is one of the few (two?) non-gel liners that don't smear on me. With mascara, though, I stay with the cheap brands. I haven't noticed much difference, if any, and since you have to replace it so often, it's a good way to save $$.

Good to know!

I had a professional makeup artist comment that she was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the drugstore mascara she was putting on me (Maybelline, IIRC). So yeah, mascara is a place you don't have to blow the budget.

Save that for the scents. Pay more for good quality scents.
