Will wonders never cease? (Divorce Edition)

I'd been despairing lately of having my divorce final by the end of the year. Then Aspiring Ex and I did a conference call with our mediator this morning.

On the advice of her CPA, she wants to be done this year so I don't get her book advance! The mediator says we can file before we're done with mediation.

It's going to happen, and fast. Our first in person session is the 15th.

Oh: AX wants me to research filing because she'll be at Gender Odyssey, to which I've never gone.

Splitsville: it isn't in Kansas.

That's the plan. She'll need that money, and as long as she isn't libeling me I don't care how she makes it.

Does she understand how book publishing works?

I mean, I'm glad she's finally getting with the program, but if she thinks that getting a book published will keep her in the style she's become accustomed to, I am amazed.

She's been writing for a living for so long I would hope she knows how it works by now. Besides, she knows she doesn't need the house she's living in.
