dental adventures; disco advent
I broke a crown yesterday while eating dried apricots. The good news is that the tooth in question had already had a root canal, so there were no nerve endings there to make me miserable. I got a new temporary crown installed this morning. The original crown had probably been weakened by the relatively big hole that the root crown specialists had drilled through it.
Right after I broke my crown yesterday, I bopped down to get my car so I could go to the dentist, and on the way home stopped by the Monkey Loft for the first of this year's summer-ish daytime rooftop parties. Sadly, the Tickler was under the weather. We'd been planning to go together.
I had to stand in line for an hour, but it was an hour right behind a woman who looked like Drew Barrymore in her mid-twenties. Ahem. It was impressively crowded, natch, and people brought their costume game. (Luckily, I nearly always wear over-the-top accessories. Thanks, Goths!) All the major flavors of queer were represented. It amused me to see what is usually the main room - the original loft apartment - become the less-crowded chill space because everyone was so tightly packed on the roof. Oh Seattle, don't ever change in your lust for sun.
Hearing Ms. Barrymore above & her friends talk about how off the hook Re-bar was on Sunday night gave me a twinge of FOMO. Believe it or not, I did consider it because I know from experience that it's my kind of crazy. After the weekend with H, though, my body was having none of it. I shall just have to make up for it on Pride weekend.
