the ups and downs of parenting the Wendling

My son paid his first electric bill yesterday. Yes, I reminded him, but I fully expected him to forget about it by the end of the day, and he didn't. Go go executive function.

Now for the down part: he's transferring his college savings account that his mother and I started when he was little to his savings account. He's that sure he's not going to college, he says he needs the money, and he's surely old enough. Le sigh.

My mom was a professor at Santa Fe College her last 25 years. She had a saying to students who couldn't get it together. "You can see me now or in twenty year, your choice." Early 20s are about all the things. When you hit the 40s, you feel it if you are stuck professionally and the two year college can help a lot of that feeling. Maybe after a while, low end jobs with no future will get to him and he will change his mind. He may need more time find himself. It's my excuse and I still looking, but I also have three degrees so...
