not feeling it

Went to Chillography and got a little groove on, but not enough to keep me there much past midnight. The crowd was also an almost completely different set of raver hippie types; I was kind of hoping I'd see somebody I knew. I had to have another of those liquid PB&Js, though.

Saw the latest Star Trek with the fam. Good acting, dialog that didn't suck, a hail of in-jokes, and a 100% post-consumer recycled screenplay. In other words, it was the polar opposite of what made people love the first series, and it lacked the crucial piece - a decent, novel story - of what often made The Next Generation a worthy successor. I didn't hate it because let's face it: I love those characters as much as anybody. I almost hate myself for not hating it, though, you know what I mean? Science fiction != space opera.

The Wendling has been a serious turd at school this past week, which isn't like him. Impending puberty, or bad influences, or just undeveloped impulse control? His being a couple of years behind other kids in so many ways is about to cause him a lot of grief over the next year or two; I saw that coming from a long way off.

Finished the headgear for my Halloween costume the other day. And now, the daunting task of the rest of it.
