The Wendling's been very tired -- he crashed last night at 7:30 -- and autistic-acting the last few days. His concentration at school's been so bad they called us in for a meeting, which turned out to be pointless because there's nothing anyone can do about it. He's got the tail end of a cold, or so I thought. Growth spurt? Loose tooth? Mercury retrograde? Who knows?

On a related note, I'm really hoping that the toilet that's been blocked for a day now -- yes, it's in the bathroom nearest his room -- doesn't have anything unusual stuffed down it.

Wanted: sleep, snuggles, circumflatulation, and partying in that chronological order.

I get squirrely like that (except for the autism acting, of course) whenever I get into some egg. Which leads me to the question: have you ever had him tested for food allergies? It could be a reaction to something.

Her Nibs has been thinking along those lines. There have been rumors that parents of autistic kids have passed around for years that wheat gluten or maybe casein (a protein found in dairy products) makes autism worse. The thing is, my son has eaten plenty of both for years. The only thing unusual that he's eaten lots of lately is cream cheese.

my youngest as well

We have been called in a few times, for "strange behavior" at school. My youngest has an known allergy to eggs (and asthmatic triggers that are not food), but we are doing some checking into the possibility of systemic yeast. He had been, for lack of any other way to put it, flaky and agitated. This was made worse by exposure to too much of any one thing (specifically carbs or sugar). Just another data point. Acidopholis is starting to help.
