Greetings from the land of Hnnnnnnngh.

I'd really like to sleep past 0600. I haven't managed that very often for the last few weeks, and my usual wakeup time on weekdays has been more like 0515. Is it summer, or is it just getting old? I'm hoping it's the former, natch. It's hurting my concentration at work, of course, and even on the way home: I got on the wrong bus yesterday, and I was late to make dinner for my son. And then I screwed up dinner, partially. (My son, unusually, didn't complain, but I wouldn't have blamed him if he had.) Tonight I let those fine professionals at Than Brothers do the cooking, as promised.

I think this must have been what Frodo & Bilbo felt like after wearing the Ring too much.

I've been in oh-gods-why-am-i-awake-at-this-hour hell for a couple of years now, so I think it is the "getting old" thing.

I don't want to assume one way or another, but does going to sleep earlier help? If not, maybe bring it up to your doctor. Going without enough sleep for too long will do a number on your brain meats.

Part might be the getting older thing. My dad, as he got older, was often up long before sunrise, looking at the stars and then sipping coffee as he watched the sun rise.

But he was retired by that time and could (and did, usually) take an afternoon nap.

I'm with the others. Maybe see a doctor, and maybe even a few (just a very few) nights of a sleep aid to assist in getting enough for the short term. Maybe that would kickstart your sleep cycle into letting you sleep later naturally.

I would sleep later if the #$%^ cats would let me... :P
