Happy Birthday to me!

I can has tikkit! For Burning Man! Yeah, after a six-and-a-half hour wait yesterday - they said they were having technical difficulties - I got my order in. It's very likely to lead to some serious aggro with Nibs because she likes to have me around for the first week of school, but you know what?
  1. The Wendling will be fourteen (14) years old by then. Chances are he won't want me around, much less need me.
  2. No Grand Snip this year. The universe kind of owes me.
  3. PTA slavery for the past couple of weeks had me completely meshuggah yesterday. It's a miracle that I only want to strangle two parents out of nearly two hundred.
  4. It's been four years, dammit.
  5. The theme this year is "Rites of Passage". If that isn't God pointing at me out of the sky and saying, "You! Go to Burning Man!" then what is?

I work in a small, somewhat isolated corner of MyCo's campus. A bunch of us from the GLBT employee association got together for lunch. Good networking, good times. We were all born into the same tribe and we all know it.

I think I've had more birthday wishes this year than ever before. I'm gobsmacked. I'm... squeeing to myself.

I'm old enough to know better, but young enough not to act like it.

Many happy moments on your new path, Beautiful Lady...

Fuck yeah, Burning Man!
Oh, did you get the disc?

Yes I did! Thank you so much! Aw, damn. I forgot to bring it to work. I meant to. Rippity rippity!

6. She rejected you, belittled your lifelong identity struggle, and kicked you out of your own house, so she can suck it.

I think you're more than entitled to a week of your own. Happy birthday, darlin'.

Well said, ma'am!

I'm pretty sure the first step towards having some one around is making them feel comfortable.

Going to Burning Man! Going to Burning Man!

I can't help but think that you've made the entirely right decision.
In order to have a partner, one must be a partner. Nibs could have had herself a perfectly delightful wife ready and willing to make decisions with her in mind, but that wasn't the path she chose to follow.

Happy Birthday!

My daughter will be going into the fourth grade. The only thing she needs from me at this point is to spend money on last minute requests from the teacher. Shopping beforehand will cure most of this problem. I fully expect to not be known to her shortly or drive the wrong car.

Your wife kicked you out of the house and out of their lives. She seems to only want you around to do things. I cannot fathom how she managed to completely cut off her feelings for you just because you look like a woman.

She rejected you, therefore, you are your own person. In some religions, that would be divorced. Do what you want. She has plenty of time and warning and can adjust her schedule to accommodate it. She has no right to complain.

I think you will have a great time at Burning Man. I have to say though, the endless slagging of Nibs in an open forum is really getting to me. You know, people stay together - or don't - for all sorts of reasons and you can't really know everything that goes on within a marriage. I think that it's great to be a supportive friend and Nibs has never really been a fan of me, certainly, but I think that taking sides in people's divorces where their kids might see it someday isn't something I really want to be associated with. Maura, I may take a break from your fb for a while, but it's not you, K? I just personally can't really handle this. You know I love you to pieces.

No worries. I'm not comfortable with the slagging, either. I know Nibs waaay better than anybody on my friends list, maybe anybody period. She and I get along and work together so well so much of the time. And she really does have a lot of health problems - physical and mental - that deserve some understanding.

FB or LJ?

1. Have fun at Burning Man!
2. Glad you discovered the LGBT group at work.

I don't think I'll ever be as excited about Burning Man as the rest of you, but I'm happy you got your ticket. ;)

GOOD.

See you there.
