spreading True Slack at MyCo?!

I put my small poster of the classic Dobbshead on my office door. My former office mate happened by and asked me if I drew it. Instead of trying to explain it to him, I directed him to the Church of the SubGenius - after hours, of course. Boss.boss.boss knew who it was right away; I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not.

Speaking of the new job and its Kool Aid that I'm drinking, I just experienced the wonder that is Windows Remote Desktop for the first time. As somebody who's used to VNC, it was a revelation, even over my sub-megabit DSL connection.

things that make me happy; Subgenius Devival

  • Rooting through a drawer to find the perfect top that I'd forgotten I had.
  • Weather that lets you wear head-to-toe black velvet and other yard sale scores in perfect comfort.
  • A "birthwarming" party where talkable hotties, including the hostess, heavily outnumber chairs.
  • Doing my patriotic duty as a consumer and spending birthday loot. (Yeah, I told you all not to give me any, but that injunction never applied to, e.g., Nibsdad.)
  • Decent makeup brushes; see above.
  • More rekkidz!
  • Friends who have good taste in music. That would be [livejournal.com profile] leenerella in this instance.

weekend trivia with a side order of controversy

Said yeaux to some local Subgenii for the first time in a couple of years. They're wonderful, happy freaks and it was great fun catching up with them over mutually appreciated snobby beer, but then the video gaming started. Don't get me wrong; I like games so much that I had to swear off them twelve years ago to get out of grad school. I really believe, though, that they take something away from social gatherings, especially smaller ones.

Bah: missed [livejournal.com profile] maribou.
Yay: finished my stickering.

For the first time, strangers checked out my (man's) wedding ring in a club. I'm surprised it took so long. That's the only deliberate genderfuck I do, folks.

I'm getting asymptotically closer to finishing my Halloween costume. It doesn't suck, which is a small miracle considering that I made a pattern from scratch for the first time. I've learned all kinds of things about how people (especially Yours Truly) are shaped, and that I really should get someone to help when trying on muslins.

The Wendling is sick enough that he went back to bed after breakfast instead of staying home and watching tube. Poor boyboy. At first I was thinking he was perky enough for school. Moral: don't let that morning burst of energy fool you.
