In my never-ending quest to achieve a quicker, less arduous, and therefore less wrist-damaging orgasm, I finally got around to using an Aneros as recommended to me by Lady T. An Aneros is basically a longer-than-usual silicone butt plug that curves gently toward the anterior. There are three models, each with a different shape; I got the one recommended for beginners.
The way it works is that you lube it up, bring one knee to your chest, slip it in, and get clenching with your anal sphincter to poke yourself in the prostate. For those of you who've never had a prostate, it's essentially a means to kegel your way to happiness.
Insertion & removal took a little getting used to, but they weren't bad. It did take me at least twenty minutes - I'm guessing here because I wasn't looking at a clock - to relax into it. I had to squeeze pretty hard to feel anything good, but that's probably good for me anyway.
Did it (eventually) feel pretty great? Yes. Did I get myself off with the Aneros alone, as advertised? Well, no, but the Aneros plus clitoral stimulation did seem to be quicker than usual, despite being under 48 hours since my last orgasm and more than half way through my two-week shot cycle. Clearly more research is needed.
And if I want to pursue this line of inquiry even further, there's the longer model of Aneros, and the "Gonzo nose" that Lady T recommended. That latter is, for better or worse, a Hitachi attachment and isn't really suitable for use when someone is trying to sleep in the other room. Ahem.
