sick puppy

Yesterday the Puppigrrl refused food for most of the day. She used to do this all the time before we switched to the food that Nibs now makes for her. I didn't think too much of it until this afternoon, when Nibs called to tell me that the poor dog barfed in the car while picking up my boy, couldn't walk straight, wouldn't eat or drink, and was drooling all over the place. So, I biked home early and we all bopped on down to the vet. Diagnosis? Idiopathic vestibular syndrome, i.e. motion sickness with no apparent cause. It's fairly common in older dogs, and usually goes away in three days to two weeks. She'll be on anti-nausea meds (read: Dramamine) and won't be getting walked for a while. She stumbles when she walks, but at least she still wants to walk even if we don't want her to.

In unrelated news, I showed cow-orkers current and former the glory that is Alice in Raverland. Too bad I don't have so many of the former here anymore. As sushi joints go, I think Izumi in Kirkland is more freak-friendly than Tokyo in Bellevue.
