trying to introduce my son to the finer things in life

I finally took m'boy to the Science Fiction Museum. For those outside the Seattle area, it's in the same Gehry-designed building that Experience Music Project is in. Yay Microsoft Prime card! It's a good museum, but as I looked around the darkened rooms at the cases full of memorabilia and read the blurbs, I couldn't help but wonder about the extent to which I found things interesting because they were at least vaguely familiar to me. To my son, only Star Wars and a little bit of Star Trek were familiar. I guess the only way you really get into sci-fi is to read the books and see the movies. At least he said he liked it.
