I have told my son.
Aug. 12th, 2010 08:59 pmI just told my son, and Nibs was there with me. He got a little weepy. He asked, "How do we make it stop?" He asked for and got temporary permission to swear. He asked us to get out of his room so he could have some time alone.
As we predicted, the biggest shock of this is that I'm moving out. Almost as shocking, though, is the whole concept of changing sex. I got the inevitable question, "Why?"
This didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped, but hey, Nibs snarked & snarled at me for months afterward. It could have been worse. Time will tell.
ETA: I almost laughed at several points. I almost cried at one.
ETAM: He said to Nibs that the worst part of it is that it's something else weird in his life. He does, after all, already have Asperger's.
He's angling to get his TV time back - curtailed for misbehavior recently - and an iPhone. I guess that's a good sign.
