I've been to Lambert House two nights in a row. Monday night was a short chat with the other two facilitators of their trans youth support group. It looks like I'm going to be one, too. Psych! The hardest parts for me will be shutting up about myself, and not yelling "NOOOOOOO!" whenever somebody talks about getting hormones without any medical help.
Last night I spent from 9:30 to 11:30 PM (?!) with the director of Lambert House, Ken Shulman, talking about the many desires he has for his DB. All of the features sound like good ideas, and it's going to be a fair amount of work. The only question is how to get it done; being a small non-profit, their hardware & software is old & creaky.
Ken's kinda awesome. He is, of course, plenty gay and he has lots of snarky stories about getting money out of bureaucracies, and the colorful cast of thousands that he's directed over the years. When he took the job, the board didn't have the money to pay him. It's a huge and not exactly lucrative job that he does. I shudder to think what would happen to the house if he got run over by a bus.
I've answered an incredible number of questions over email from the TV producer I talked to. She's also spoken with Nibs.
Went to work as Lizzie Borden again this year for official Halloween because a) nobody at my current job had seen that outfit before and b) the Burnt Burner outfit that I wore to the weekend parties was too revealing.
