review: Bako
Mar. 31st, 2012 09:30 pmShortly after I got back from surgery, I planned to meet C the Hot Blonde Straight Woman at Bako. I was there on time, but she never showed due to a friend's medical emergency. What's more, neither C nor I knew until I got there that Bako isn't open for lunch.
The head chef showed up while I was there, though, to begin opening. He took pity on me standing in the cold in the doorway and gave me a beautifully handwritten coupon for a free cocktail that expired today.
Well, I couldn't let that pass, so I had dinner & drinks with the dapper, charming, and always alarming
dagard tonight. I think I've found a new favorite place. They're serious about their cocktails, natch, but they also have a - wait for it - Chinese-inspired menu. Everything is fresh & flavorful, and blissfully low on suspicious or tacky ingredients. Love the decor, too.
