Pride methadone
Jun. 26th, 2012 10:53 amDespite a strangely poor night's sleep on Sunday night, after I got done with last night's grocery shopping I got a wild hair and called Lambert House to see if the usual suspects were going out to Smith for drinks afterward. They were - duh, we had Pride stories to tell - so I hit the bridge.
One odd thing happened: L the cute redhead rather abruptly left us, saying something about how we were talking about gender and she was getting tired anyway. I was responsible for a lot of that talk, of course, and I wondered if I'd driven L away. No, says A the tall blonde*, L has social anxiety.
But aside from that, it was the perfect story-swapping, lesbian-rapping antidote to the post-Pride bummer of crashing back into the mostly-straight world of work, family, etc. I wish my life were like thatall more of the time: with more people in it, especially queer people. To varying degrees I think I speak for the rest of the Lambert peeps, too.
Special to
kathrynt: out of the five of us, four of us ordered Manhattans. You were right.
*Also cute. Apparently most women who volunteer at Lambert House are cute. Of course they're all taken except for yours truly. Need you ask?
Oh: the Dept. of Obscure Anniversaries would like to inform you that today is the fourth anniversary of when I told Nibs that I was Going Through With It. I regret only that she was hurt, but she's healing, maybe even healed, pretty well.
