Nun uses feet. A lot.
Sep. 12th, 2015 10:03 pmM'boy called yesterday and said he was too tired to take the bus from Kirkland (?!) so I had last night & most of today to myself. Last night: bitching about things to
ionan and J, so they administered G&Ts and sorbet, which were highly effective. I love that I can walk over Phinney Ridge to their place from mine in about twenty minutes.
After my bike ride, lunch, shower, and housework today, nobody I could think of was free on short notice. But it was a perfect day outside - maybe even the last of the year - so I walked from my lake place past the real estate porn on Palatine to downtown Ballard. That's [does mental math] about fifty (50) blocks. I didn't start to see houses that weren't either new or perfectly maintained until I got west of 3rd NW, i.e. Ballard. It's kind of a relief, oddly enough.
Got chai at Bauhaus mainly because I was thirsty. Not overly sweet.
Took the 44 to Phinney Ave. and walked home for another 40 blocks. Noticed boffo views of Puget Sound from the Ridge, which I usually only see fleetingly from the 5. (Did you know 57th goes right through Phinney Ridge to the zoo? I didn't until today.)
Ate dinner, walked back up to the ridge to the new Nutty Squirrel gelato at 72nd & Greenwood, which is of course the bomb diggity. Caught the young lady behind the counter giving me a funny look. That better not have been trans-related, sweetie.
Kept walking on the west side of the ridge past an imposingly big house, half hidden by trees, flying a Jolly Roger. I went to peer through the front gate, and there was an old lady with her fuzzy dawg looking back at me. I complimented her on her flag. We wants that house, my preciousss, or maybe the purple one next to it with the Pride-themed wind sock.
I couldn't stay late enough to watch the sun set over Puget Sound - I had to pick up the kiddo in Kirkland - but I did sit on the corner of Argyle & Greenwood to watch the sun reflect off the water with the mountains behind it. Have I mentioned lately how much I love Seattle?
ETA: I forgot about the windfall Italian prunes at 68th & Dayton. They were perfect!
Pride flags and Pride flag-themed items seen: at least two.
Stars & Stripes in front of residences: at least a dozen.
Orange Ferraris: one.
Total blocks walked today: about 140.
