But first, on the theme of the previous entry, I was having dinner with my son on Wednesday night as usual. We were talking about his need to adult, and not rely on his mother to do it for him.
Me: Imagine a world with no mom. Or me.
Wendling: Whoa!
Maybe someday he'll be ready for it. It's his mother's and my primary function, vis a vis him, to make that happen.
Meanwhile, at the King County Superior Court downtown this afternoon, Imminent Ex and I went to our Family Law Orientation. A majority of the information didn't even apply to us because our divorce is uncontested ("agreed") and we have no minor children. We gave each other a quiet high five. Am I glad I went? Sure, because it's a legal requirement here in the Evergreen State and IX & I now have pieces of paper saying we went.
IX was a few minutes late because she witnessed a "beatdown" between two drunk homeless guys. She was appalled at the laughter and non-response from people around her.
