Nun kicks weekend's butt.
Feb. 4th, 2018 02:56 pmFriday night I had a little Afterbirthday celebration at the Mercury with T, J, and
quietsoul. There was catching up, snogs, hair-pulling, and way too much booze, most of it bought for me by J & T. Just like old times on the playa, and it was fabulous. Happy sigh, followed by, oh my head.
Last night, techno with the Tickler at Mokedo. It started out slow, with us cuddling & talking on a couch in the chill room to super spacey music because we were the zeebs who showed up right at 2200 when they were still setting up. By midnight, though, the place was jammed to the rafters and the groove was decidedly happening. Props to the secondnature crew including CCL and D. Dan, but I didn't last until the headliner due to earlier nap failure despite yerba mate lemonade. Fortunately, the Tickler is forgiving of such things. And even if I'd had the energy, it was more crowded than even I like it, which is saying something.
Mollie Bryan, the proprietress of Mokedo, was saying that the crew had asked to set up four subwoofers, but she limited them to two because experience had taught her that four would knock things off shelves. Ah, ravers. Mokedo is not a big space; its capacity is 150.
Cuddles with the Tickler and eetz at Arthur's, which is a pretty good brunch place up California Ave. that isn't completely mobbed, probably because it's pretty new. That whole evening and morning with her was exactly what I needed except for...
...I've got another screw in one of my tires for the second time in as many months, to the annoyance of my son, who drives that car to school. The Tickler points out that I parked at a construction-related business across from Mokedo. Gosh, I guess I need to stop parking there.
I've got my packing list for Sydney done, along with all the weird plugs* I'd need, and plenty of maps and info in hardcopy just in case. Me, anal-retentive? I can turn coal into diamonds with my butt. Oh, and I made an appointment at the Gallery Serpentine Secret Lair. This ought to be good.
*Australia, New Zealand, China, and Argentina (?!) all use the same plugs. They're not the same as UK, EU, or rest-of-Americas-and-Japanese plugs. There's at least one good story in there somewhere.
