Spider-Man: Into the Camping Gear Store
Aug. 31st, 2019 04:23 pmSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is the first superhero movie I've seen in years that didn't make me think, 'I want those two hours back, dammit.' Was it because it was animated, and therefore shared the graphic part of the appeal of the comic book source material? Or was it just better writing that didn't slavishly adhere to some "canon" story out of some sense of obligation to or fear of fanboys? Predominantly, but by no means exclusively, the latter.
I didn't go to Burning Man this year, but I hit the Labor Day sale at REI and of course ended up with stuff I'd need on the playa:
I didn't go to Burning Man this year, but I hit the Labor Day sale at REI and of course ended up with stuff I'd need on the playa:
- Three (3) big tubes of titanium dioxide SPF 50 sunscreen, i.e. the kind that doesn't kill marine life. I know that two tubes are just enough to get me through a Burn.
- New shades to replace the ones I've trashed. I'm proud of myself for not losing them.
- Rubberized wire ties to replace the zip ties I'm nearly out of. I was never crazy about the amount of plastic waste I generated by using plastic zip ties, and REI cleverly presented a solution while I was waiting in the (long) checkout line.
