Nun has weird luck.
Jan. 22nd, 2020 08:47 pmI spent today getting examined by my doctor, and then the radiologist he referred me to, and then picking up crutches and a boot after the X-ray turned up a hairline fracture in my fibula. Honestly, I thought it was just a sprain; I never heard a pop or felt the excruciating pain I usually associate with broken bones.
So I did my federal income taxes on my birthday, eager for that alimony-swollen refund check. Except for one thing: I forgot about the 1099 from my credit union, which arrived hours after I mailed my taxes. It turns out that thanks to not spending most of last year's refund, I earned enough interest to increase the tax I owe by a whopping $11. Visions of 1040X danced in my head.
But then, on the way to the doctor, I saw an envelope sticking out of the outgoing mail slot a little. I worried it out, and it was indeed my taxes. Saved! I have now mailed a new, correct copy of my tax return.
Accommodations in London secured, similar enough to the one that cancelled on me that I suspect a different type of shenanigans than I did last time.
So after all that running around and not going into the office, I found out that there have been multiple shootings in downtown Seattle today. One of them was near the bus stop that's the last one I pass before getting off at work. My timing for breaking my ankle is impeccable.
