When I tried to text somebody yesterday morning, it didn't go. My phone gave me a fascinating indicator message: "No SIM". Ergo, no cellular service whatsoever. Of course this happened on Good Sister's birthday and a day when I hadn't placed my weekend call to Mom yet, either.
So I waited until the nearest store for my carrier, where I got the phone, opened. I took the phone in and watched the young lady break out a special tiny tool, pop my SIM card out, put it back in, dial a special number (#832?) a few times, and then take the phone outside with me because we couldn't get reception in the store. (!) The phone started working, after all of fifteen minutes.
I'm hoping this is the only such incident I ever encounter. I did leave birthday voicemail for GS; when I tried again she texted me that she was out to dinner with her husband. I like the idea of Good Sister having fun because it doesn't seem to happen very often, and she's really got it coming.
I called Mom while walking over the ridge to La Fashionista's. It was the least crazy call with her that I've had in weeks.
