a teachable moment over toasted cheese
Oct. 27th, 2021 09:16 amThe Wendling and I had dinner together last night, as usual on Tuesdays. We got onto the subject of mass transit and why it isn't as good as it could be in most American cities. He didn't know about Seattle's Forward Thrust bond initiatives in the early 1970s or the historical events of the 1940s that inspired "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" He knows now.
This is the part of being a parent that I really dig. I don't know if I'll succeed in turning my son into a mass transit advocate – he whines too much about people he wishes weren't on the bus and doesn't think enough about why they're there – but any kind of decent advocate would do.
