sistawendy: a butterfly in the style of a street sign (butterfly)
I just saw on my Twitter feed that Seattle police arrested a trans basher yesterday.

What freaks me out is that the location of the attack is somewhere I've been dozens of times. That (small) park is where the trans Pride rally is every year. Goths used to have picnics there. The buses from downtown to Lambert House go right past it, up streets that have been the scenes of other recent queer bashings. The victim could easily have been me.

Yes, it's good that SPD got their man, but now I have to wonder. How many more of this guy are out there? Is the number on the Hill increasing or decreasing? Should I walk alone in that area, ever? Who is that motherfucker, where does he live, and what is his problem? How do we stop them?

I wonder if the victim has anyone she can depend on to comfort her, or anyone who's depending on her.
