Sydney sign off

No pics today: all I did was sleep and go out to dinner at Bloodwood, which I recommend especially for cocktails and late hours.

I gotta love a town where a) restaurants are still jumping after 2100, b) I don't have to tip, and c) the food's terrific. I'll have to teach them what a gimlet is on my next trip. This is your nun, signing off from Sydney.

Sometime (when you are not so busy partying in Oz), I'd like to hear how the nun moniker came about.

Way back in 1999, I went to one of my friend D's Halloween parties dressed as Sister Wendy Beckett, the nun who does the art history shorts on the BBC. It was only partly a spoof: I really do think she has lots of insightful things to say about the art. It also says something good about Britain that they'll put someone who looks & sounds so funny in front of a TV camera.

As it happened, D ran a MOO, and soon gave me a character named sistawendy. I've been taking that username from one online forum to another so people would know who I was ever since.
