I regularly do a little konmari on my closet and, when I get a big enough pile, I take it down to Goodwill, which is about a mile away from my place on the other side of a certain ridge. It's good exercise to walk or bike there & back, and since I slept too late to get my bike ride in yesterday I walked.
Maybe halfway there, I got a stabbing pain from my bunion despite wearing my most sensible boots - Docs. It settled down a little after that, but it's been grumbly ever since; I couldn't splint it for long last night without my foot feeling stabby. Where this gets to be a Catch-22 is that as I observed a few days ago, a nice walk in the evening helps me sleep. I did indeed log seven a half hours last night, which is pretty good for me.
I do not want bunion surgery, dammit, but the bunion's interference with my normal level of activity is getting harder to ignore. And it's not like I'm a hiking maniac like, it seems, the average Seattle lesbian. (Seriously, queer women around here sometimes feel the need to put "I will not camp with you" in their online dating profiles.)
One silver lining: my knees were a-OK with all that walking uphill. Go go physical therapy.
