South African geranium works for me.

I'm breathing through both nostrils, not light-headed, and not coughing myself into a fetal position. I think the South African geranium that I've been taking - the brand is Umcka, available at PCC - helped reduce this cold's duration if not its intensity.

As is says on the package, for best results, you need to start taking it as soon as you feel any symptoms. I was maybe a day late with that, but not too late to do some good.

I'm ordinarily deeply skeptical of anything that smells of hippie, and even more so of advice from my son, but damned if my son and his hippie suppliers weren't right this time.

I tried Umcka a couple of weeks ago and was also pleasantly surprised it seemed to help! I also do zinc tablets when I start to get a cold, so maybe it was the combination.
