I just got an exasperated text from Evil Sister. She called Mom this morning even though I agreed to do the weekends. Why exasperated? Mom went to the supermarket and invited a neighbor over. I thought she had the sense to stay away, but ES speculates that she didn't want my niece to buy her damn diapers, which would be entirely in character. The scramble is on to find an alternative way to get groceries to Mom without her leaving the house.
I'll be lucky if my mother sees May. If she doesn't, I wonder if I'll even be able to go to the funeral. Upside: Good Sister really doesn't need the stress of being Mom's guardian; she's got both her daughters home with her in a house that she bought with an empty nest in mind, i.e. it's a little cramped for four.
