If you've been reading along for a while, it'll surprise you not at all to learn that the first text message in over ten years that Evil Sister sent to me and me alone concerned our mother, and she couldn't get a hold of Good Sister. The deal is that Mom told an old blowhard, ornery moocher B that he could move in with her today.
ES knows B from church back when she lived in Florida. The whole congregation thinks he's an asshole, and everything I've heard from Mom corroborates that. Shoot, Mom doesn't even like him and fights with him often, but since she's got dementia, she may have forgotten that. Or she may have decided to listen to her own loneliness.
The sitch with B is, he's in a home, but he's bored. He's nearly blind, and probably looking for somebody to take care of him. That he's settled on Mom is darkly amusing considering how useless she's become even at caring for herself. At least B doesn't pose any additional threat to Mom's finances: B married money, and his wife's death left him well off.
In any case, I got lucky and managed to call Good Sister. My sisters are now on the case.
