sistawendy: me looking confident in a black '50s retro dress (mad woman)
Been workin' hard. Sleeping well every other night. Socializing over the intertubes with the Tickler, La Fashionista, and C. Forgetting how to write in complete sentences.

C appears in this journal often enough that she's earned a moniker. I shall henceforth call her Tacoma Girl, because she surely is. If you're local, you can picture a queer Evergreen alumna from Tacoma, with Tacoma friends and a Tacoma personal history, who struggles with depression and smokes a fair amount of weed. That's Tacoma Girl. And yes, she's almost twenty years younger than I am, so I won't listen to any grief about the "girl" part.

I forgot how much I love sardines. They're kind of a perfect pandemic food. It's time for me to start stockpiling them, which is no mean feat when you do your grocery shopping on foot.

I am determined to acquire more warm socks today. Winter is supposed to arrive in Seattle, finally, early next week. But other than that, I'm free of weekend plans and I have to say I'm OK with that.

Warm fuzzy socks for the win.

In snow-season I wear two pairs: knee-socks with thick ankle-socks over top. Outer layer catches most of the powdery snow, and comes straight off as soon as I get up the steps of our verandah.

For the longest time I could buy over-the-knee socks at the local dollar shop (for a dollar), but they seem to have gone the way of the fashion dodo-bird, to be replaced by flower-decorated flip-flops. (What is it about retailers, anyway? They sell bikinis in January and snow-parkas in August.)

Dafterie abounds, it does.

If you like sardines, try tinned smoked mackerel. Just oily enough to go well in the skillet with bok choi and broccoli.

And as to cognomens for main squeezes, just the one, 'Darling Spouse'. We're close to the same age, so there's no 'girl' honorific in play.

Ballinger Thriftway has it, and also lovely wine department which is where we customarily get drinkables (and cheeseables to go with), for Second Turkey Day Eve sharesies. Someone else arranges for good Scotch and yet another someone else lays in a multi-day supply of (ungettable-north-of-Checkpoint-Charle) Choya with the alcoholic plums in the bottom.

First Turkey Day is customarily observed at our winter-house, although this year with the 'rona it was very sparsely-attended.

Come to think of it, it's Laphraoig-o'-clock. Shall I fire up the STP (Scotch Transfer Protocol)?
