When you check your bike tire for something sticking out of it, take your tire all the way off the wheel and examine it in a place with good lighting. Don't half-ass it the way I did last night, or you may lose your second and final tube in as many days.
I don't even know where that 13mm metal bit poking out of my tire came from, but if I had to guess it's construction debris. Yeah, the road construction in my neighborhood is ongoing and will be through spring, says the city.
Time to walk and get more bike tubes. I'd already ordered more between my first and second punctured tubes, but no way do I want to wait that long for my next ride. I guess I got the bike bug.
