I think I have a possible explanation for why the IRS thinks I owe them. I did indeed file Schedule 1, the form that says how much alimony I paid. I even made a copy of it and filed it like a good, paranoid girl.

My copy is missing my [ETA: name and] Social Security number. In the likely event that it was separated from the rest of my return, they'd never know who to attribute it to.

Dammit! So what do I do about this? Please don't make me file another 1040X.

Maybe you can just fill in the missing information on your copy, make a new copy, and just send them the Schedule 1 again? Worth asking...
