sistawendy: me in a Gorey vamp costume looking up (skeptic coy Gorey tilted down)

Well, I did the thing with my Xacto knife and got it into the right shape, but that didn't put me over the top. I don't think I can avoid remaking Lady Di the DIY in a more rigid material. Candidates under consideration:
  • epoxy resin - Yeah, I can hear all you MOOers laughing from here. Shaddup. I think it'll be strong enough.
  • silicone-coated wood - This is a thing, according to [personal profile] martygreene, but it's probably more work than resin. It would, after all, involve wood-carving. And I'd want some nice, hard wood.
  • stainless steel - This would take forever to grind, even if I had a grinder, and I'd probably never get it smooth enough to use.
  • glass - I can't even begin to do this myself, but it really would be ideal.
  • glazed ceramic - Is it strong enough and sufficiently non-porous? Maybe. Would I enjoy asking Ex the ceramicist to do this for me? Not as much as you'd think.
