Funny Lady and I did one of our things: we tried a new Korean place on Broadway. It was OK, nothing too fancy. Pro tip: the jeon, i.e. pancakes, are sold as an appetizer, but they're basically a meal in themselves. I think Funny Lady enjoyed the food more than I did, not least because she hadn't been out for Korean since the start of the pandemic. Those folks seemed really eager for our business, though, and I see no reason not to go back.
As so often when I'm out with FL, the time flew by. I had much to tell her, duh, and she's made of charm*. I took the train home, which meant going by the new M2M Mart, the much-anticipated Korean supermarket right next to the north entrance to Capitol Hill station. Funny Lady, despite living nearby, hadn't heard about it. We went in.
I watched Funny Lady go bananas as only a cat lady with serious ADHD who loves Korean food can. Why do I mention that she's a cat lady? Cat-themed ceramics, of course. At least she passed on the socks bearing the likenesses of individual members of BTS. cupcake_goth has done to me so many times: enabling. If FL's husband P someday gets upset with me because her M2M shopping habit has gotten out of hand, I will totally have it coming.
What offended my sensibilities was that they had mangoes and corn in plastic packages. Corn comes in a package, dammit. So do mangoes, come to think of it. But it's probably inevitable that I'll buy Asian food there; I go through sesame oil at a pretty good clip.
*It just occurred to me that if I introduced Funny Lady to Shiny H, the ensuing nuclear charisma reaction would result in mass nudity. I need to make that happen.
