Remember when I printed a photo for Mom but the colors came out wrong? I did it again yesterday and it was fine. I think I used the same app, Apple Preview, and the same printer settings otherwise.
What may have been different? Well, I used a different laptop, which surely doesn't make a difference because they're both Macs and both current on OS patches, albeit with different processors. Note to future me: the one that worked was the old Intel Mac.
The first time, however, the color cartridges were brand new. Maybe the yellow one was a little too ready to yield its ink when I first installed it. Something that struck me the first time, though, was how evenly messed up the colors were across the whole 5"x7" print. It didn't look like a cartridge glitch. Moral: don't print photos with new cartridges?
In any case, a color-corrected print of the first photo is on its way to her in addition to a more recent outfit selfie that shows off my house a little. Yes, I consulted Good Sister about what to send. I figure I won't be sending any pictures of myself in latex.
I have one 5"x7" padded mailer left. I'm superstitious about using it.
