I share a US Mail box with the other four units on what was once one lot. It's a common arrangement in my neighborhood, but from it has stemmed a couple of issues.
- The lock that the letter carrier uses to open every unit's mailbox simultaneously and deliver the mail is broken. That means the letter carrier has to go to the trouble of bringing it to our doors, thereby exposing mail to the risks of theft and the winter weather. I think they've skipped a couple of days.
- Some automated systems out there can support alphabetic unit designations tacked onto house numbers, as they appear on many actual houses including mine. Some automated systems can't. I just had an Etsy seller report one at her end that can't. Goddamn computers.
