We redeemed a rain check for the Wendling today and went to Mt. Saint Helens. Even after a quarter century, it still looks impressively like a cross between Hiroshima and Mars. Even with my mercifully poor sense of smell I noticed the dust in the air, which is what you see blowing out of the crater. (You can see the steam from the lava dome too, but only if you can see the top of the dome, i.e. you're due north of the mountain at the observatory.) The boy dug it.
That's a nice damn park, and a long damn drive.
