May. 31st, 2004 11:27 pmYow. Long update in reverse chronological order follows:
Today: Saw Shrek 2 with Wendling and was pleasantly surprised by how well he behaved. It was my first movie in a theater with him. Oh yeah: the flick wasn't bad, but it was much of the same.
Sunday: OK, what I like best about Memorial Day is that the Vogue is packed with peeps and eye candy -- and those two groups are certainly not mutually exclusive. I was a happy little sardine. It was wonderful to see you all.
SIFF flick: Danny Deckchair -- a romantic comedy done right from Australia. Mercifully low on smarm and high on quirk. Yeah, the theme of chucking it all and starting over resonates with this reviewer. You got a problem with that?
Saturday: crashed instead of going to
shivacat's party. Scheduling snafus prevented me from coming in the afternoon. Le sigh.
Friday & Saturday: missed
aaminahlefae's dance gigs not once but twice in a messed-up manner. I told Her Nibs that I wanted to go to Folklife, but I didn't tell her why until it was too late and other things got scheduled on top of it. I assumed she was more jealous of my time than she is, or so she tells me.
Friday: Finally watched Return of the King with Her Nibs. Not surprisingly, she thought it overlong and didn't dig the battle scenes. What is it that makes some people crazed (in my case moderately) Tolkien fans and others not?
Do you ever get a sensation in your nose that seems like the olfactory equivalent of feedback? I think it means I'm catching a cold. Brilliant timing.
