sewing, boom, and boy
Jul. 5th, 2007 10:19 amWhy is America great, or at least parts of it, for now? Because freakazoids can spend much of the national day sewing and then wear their work in public, that's why.
You know, a pattern that worked with really stretchy fabric is going to require substantial alteration for fabric that isn't. I'm about to risk the anger of the sewing gods by not quite making a muslin that fits. My excuses? I've run out of muslin and I want to be done-ish by 7/14.
Saw the Lake Union fireworks the civilized way. I hate to sound like an ingrate -- Nibsdad picked up the hefty tab for a nice dinner at Daniel's -- but I think I prefer the sardine scene at Gas Works. I like the open air (unless it's raining), and you just can't beat the view. Hundreds of thousands of smoking white trash? No problem.
Oh: my son has declared an ambition to finish the fifth Harry Potter book before the movie leaves the theaters. He's about 2/3 done with the fourth book, so it's a tall order, but a) I'm glad he has an ambition at all that b) doesn't involve crime and c) is actually worthwhile. I'll be reading to him as usual.
