loft party; the return of Blacklight?

But first: Mom's visit has been brought to a successful conclusion. She said Nibs was "exemplary". *Whew.* It's hard not to mellow out when you eat a Kidd Valley burger and then go across the street to the Lake Washington shore on a sunny, breezy afternoon.

I celebrated the above by going to a loft party (I think I might be a hipster now. Aiee!) down on 1st Ave. S not far from the W. Seattle bridge. It's a choice space: it's huge, has wooden floors, a bar, and cool stuff on the walls. The guy who rents it out apparently lives there -- his spices & condiments were there for all to see -- and I'm thinking of calling him: his place might make a fine venue for my actual Round-Numbered Birthday. The party was apparently BYOB, but I didn't know that until I got there; I did the girl scout thing and opened others' beer bottles with my Leatherman. The sound was right on, and so was the first DJ, Kris Moon. Then Jerry Abstract took over and chased me out of there.

Said my goodbyes to Monny on the way home, only to hear him tell me that somebody else is taking over Blacklight. Huh? I hope that means the situation wasn't as dire as I thought and that Monny & Shawna Just Wanted Out. I wonder what the future holds for them; I didn't get a chance to ask.
