ultra-short-term nostalgia
Aug. 29th, 2010 09:01 pmSo yes, last night at the Merc, which was smokeless, was a lovely sardine scene, including lots of old-timers whom I hadn't seen in a while. Random related thoughts:
Mental notes:
- Was it the boob theme, in which I was so happy to participate, or smokelessness that brought people out? I once heard the claim from a source I can't remember that smokeless nights didn't do as well there. There wasn't any evidence of that last night. No, as a non-smoker I'm not crazy about the usual miasma. I don't feel as strongly about it, though, as some of the militant smokers among the staff, or as those among my friends who feel too unwell during or after to go there anymore.
- I don't meet as many new people as I used to. With my own place (Soon!) and my own vehicle (next year), this will change. But I miss goffee, Stitch & Bitch, yard sales, and the other random gatherings. Yes,
schmi, I know there's another goffee out there, and the picnics still happen even though I missed them all this year, but anything on a weeknight is still hard — for now. And to organize something like that I'll need a place in Seattle either to myself or shared with people who are into it.
