July 18th is Thanksgiving.
Jul. 18th, 2011 03:25 pmTalking to J&J's friend yesterday and
rigel_p today has reminded me of something: I'm very, very lucky to have so many people in my life to listen to my ramblings and offer sound advice in how to girl, etc. It seems to me that most trans women don't have that, and it makes an enormous difference.
And the Internet played a large role in helping me find you all: DownMOO, LJ, the SeaGoth board, and nwtekno are the ones that leap to mind. And of course a few key people saying, "Hey, you should check this out." Maybe I can't return the favor to them personally - I'm not sure they need a favor - but I can do that for other trans people.
Yes, there are those I just run into, but there may also be the younger ones who truly have no one to turn to about trans stuff right now. I know what that's like from my teens and early twenties, and in case you were wondering, it's bad.
I'm going to a PFLAG meeting on Thursday night because they said I'd need to if I wanted to be one of their speakers. It's my turn.
