dating: an unusual un-whine
Jan. 14th, 2014 11:21 pmAs much as I like to whine about dating, I'm not going to do that tonight. Friends & co-workers have clued me into just how awful online dating is if you're a) straight, b) about ten years younger than I am, and c) especially if you're a woman. I've come across one or two nut jobs in about as many years with a side order of rejection, but that's nothing compared to the (barely) human wave of creepazoids that straight women deal with, especially younger ones. It makes me positively grateful to be queer and middle-aged.
I can't help but wonder if young gay men have it even worse; they get to deal with closet cases & self-hatred in addition to what straight women go through. I've heard multiple gay men complain about how stigmatized femme is among them, even though it's everywhere.
By the way, I got a rather nice nibble yesterday. She warned me she's "terrible" about checking her PMs, so I'll have to be patient.
