We're in the middle of a cold snap here in Seattle. There's snow on the ground and nights below freezing for the first time this (official) winter. So naturally, the fabulous (Sarcasm!) 1950s electric heat in my lake place induced me to pile on the blankies when I went to bed last night, then roasted me awake around 0330.
After an hour or so of tossing and turning, I couldn't help but notice the usual light leaks around the black foam board I've had in my bedroom window for years. It occurred to me that maybe the leather mask* that I keep on my night stand might not just be for daytime use. I managed to get back to sleep until my alarm went off at 0600.
Folks, you have no idea how many times I've woken up early and failed to get back to sleep. This could be a big deal for me. I think I may be more sensitive to light than the average hibernating bear.
*Bought at Doghouse Leathers in Capitol Hill. Comfy, fits great, blocks light, priced right. Aw, yeah. I have yet to use it for its intended purpose, sadly.
