Good Sister becomes executrix.
Mar. 26th, 2024 06:59 amGood Sister texted the rest of the United Sister Front yesterday to tell us that she's finally been appointed executor of Mom's will — over six months after Mom's death. The good news is that means GS now has the legal means to be done with Mom's affairs.
The bad news is that she has three weeks to do Mom's taxes one last time, and those have never been simple. Because of the legal limbo that just ended, Mom's retirement investment company hasn't yet sent her the documents that she needs for that.
After the taxes, the probate hearing, then ninety days for creditors to come out of the woodwork (a requirement in most states including Florida), and then Good Sister gets to sell Mom's house, etc. Can she do it by the end of this calendar year? Maybe. I know she's motivated, just because she's tired of it all.
