#1: Ran into theda, looking fabulous in corporate goth, in deepest darkest Redmond & talked costumes over sammiches for lunch. For better (for her) and for worse (for me), she won't be in Redmond regularly.

#2: ravenmimura & evillinn came to the Wendling's school to talk about what Raven does and show some of his work. It was worth it to hear a room full of eight-year-olds go "Oooooo!" every time evillinn put a new drawing under the projector. One of the kids asked Raven to draw something on the whiteboard, and he obliged with a Scary Monster. I wanted to point out how he made some of the tentacles look closer by drawing them bigger, darker, and in front of the others, but the kids were much more interested in product than process. I guess I was at that age, too. Besides, it was Raven's and the kids' show. He'd done this sort of thing before, and it showed. This was in the works for months, and my, was it cool.

I'd love to come to a class someday -- shoot, I'd like to help friends move -- but it takes me twenty minutes to explain what I do even to adults, and it isn't very visual.

#3: Bombs away tomorrow morning at 8:00. I'll be logging lots of hours in the spaceship Sanctimobile, which is fine with me.

(Why do I have time to write this now? One word: Solaris.)

That was so fun. I really miss spending time around kids, and those were a bunch of really great kids. We were both impressed with the enthusiasm and involvement. Clearly an open and friendly environment there.
